On March 6th we moved on to party #2 at Rockin' R Ranch for Liz Adair's (Tudy) Publishing Party. We also sold a number of our cookbooks there as well as serving up our famous refreshments.
Party #3 was the cooking class held on March 14 at the Packard's. We learned about making wheat bread and homemade chicken noodle soup. We ground our wheat and make homemade noodles.
with homemade jam. Yum!
noodles with a pizza cutter.
(We made him earn his dinner.)
Can you tell we had fun?
I still haven't gotten into the blogging business as you can see by the weekly blog becoming a monthly blog. We are just too busy partying as you can see from the pictures. (Thanks to Stacy Guthrie for a little private blog tutoring.)
We had another successful cooking class for the cousins, aunts, etc. We make homemade wheat bread with an emphasis on how to shape the loaves. (Actually there was more emphasis on eating the bread as soon as it came out of the oven.)
We also learned how to make homemade chicken noodle soup with homemade chicken stock and homemade noodles.
The recipes are in the cookbook but it always seems to be helpful to see a demonstration and have questions and doubts answered.
Hopefully everyone learned a few new helpful tips as well as enjoying the soup and bread.
Our goal is share some new recipes from time to time that you can add to your cookbook.
I have made this recipe twice and enjoyed it both times. It is a glorified homemade macaroni and cheese.
Shell Macaroni & Cheese
1 lb. medium shell macaroni
(cooked according to directions on package)
1 lb. (2 cups) cottage cheese
1 egg beaten
8 oz. (1 cup) sour cream
1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese, grated
Salt & pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients together and place in a 9x13 (or equivalent) baking dish. Sprinkle top with paprika, cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
I'm sure you could use other shapes of pasta but I have only made it with the medium shells. It is extremely "cheesy" with a whole pound of cheese. It is good being "cheesy" but I think you could decrease it some and it would still be yummy. If you are being creative try some other varieties and combinations of cheeses.
One time I accidently put in 2 cups of sour cream and it was still very tasty and good.
Enjoy!!
